Hello everyone.

My windows xp computer produces a minor annoyance by taking roughly 3 minutes on startup to connect to my wireless adapter. I've read places that there is an option in windows xp where i can choose not to refresh the wireless connections on startup and instead go with the last used network configuration.

If someone knows the steps necessary to achieve such a task, i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.
-Sam.

Disable the network connection: Right-click the icon for the wireless connection ! choose 'disable' from the pop-up menu.

If this is a laptop, there may be a toggle switch that turns off the wifi connection in order to conserve battery power.

i can choose not to refresh the wireless connections on startup and instead go with the last used network configuration.

delete ALL connections under View Network Connections.

establish a New one to the preferred connection.
When making this connection, do not select connect to p2p adhoc.

DO NOT CLOSE or disconnect this site; if you wish to 'disconnect', use the slide switch
to power off the adaptor. this will become the default connection.
