How to STOP playing music and talking to the mic at the same time

The title might sound a little weird but here's my problem. Yesterday i was chatting with my friends with a crappy headset then it broke.I just got a new one but this one is weird whenever i'm playing a music or something my friends can hear it too. I try checking it by using the sound recorded. It seems like they picked up the music in the background too. Is there anyway to stop it so i can use my mic alone?

Try this.

Click start/control panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Advanced and make sure the mic is muted on the playback side.

Nevermind. fixed it. messed around with the audio devices and boom! its done
