How well does system restore work?

  1. Im in the middle of re-installing Windows. Should I use SR or get something like Drive Image?

    System restore sucks. Sometimes it works, other times it crashes your system. But at no time will it keep your data safe from hardware failure.

    Drive Image is extremely unreliable and pretty flakey. But you can image your drive to another one, which provides a reliable backup. The problem is, Drive Image is littered with bugs, so you never know when your backup is really going to work or not.

    Acronis Trueimage 7.0 is much better and I give it my full recommendation for keeping backups of your computer. You can image in Windows, it is reliable and it makes incremental backups, which is a huge plus. Check it out.

    Thanks. I think Maximum PC recomended Acronis. I'll check it out.
