Im new to this site but not new to the bios security unlock method, but ive stumbled on a problem I bought a d531 from ebay for an average price. I was careless and without reading the fine print on the page i bought it and then i saw the admin bios pass screen when i got it and there is no shortable eeprom and i cant find anything anywhere on the d531 and i dont wanna pay someone 150 -350 USD for a new MOBO or eeprom fix i was hoping there was someone with the master pass generator could do me a favor or charge me a reasonable price.

Dell boot password

Well I got the password for the D830 Laptop. The guy I bought it from finally emailed it to me and it works. my question is now that I have the password is there a way to disable it, so I won't have to enter it in every time I reboot?

The guy he bought the Laptop from !

Anyway, when your computer first starts up, you should see a key to press to get into CMOS (either DEL or F2 or some other key)
Usually you have about 3 seconds to hit this key

Once in CMOS, you need to go to the computer password security area and disable the password
Save and exit CMOS

All done.

To disable password screen type in you're password and hold ctrl then press enter twice and this should disable the password.

usually the master password removes/disables all other passwords. so no further action required unless you want to set a new password.

This model does not respond to shorting. It has a 25 series EEProm Chip that does not respond to that technique

Just contact Dell and tell them all the info
In this case, they will ask you everything that you do know
the ebay seller isn't respond my emails
But he has an eBay member name.

This has been done before as well, it just takes a bit longer. But it has been successfullly done.

ups, so may be suddenly it is unlocked next week.

lol - nice 1

I guess this will be difficult to answer... but he should definitely call dell and tell them. it might become a major hardware issue which they donno about yet !? lol
I will talk to my dell rep next week and see what he says after he had his laugh.

no, serious. for those who expect free master passwords you are at the wrong place at this time. the good guys are gone but the wouldn't give out passwords for such cheap stories anyway. All you can do is to follow kimsland's instruction or go to ebay and buy a password. for some older models you may have chances with the shorting method. but thats it....

good luck all

Yes the bad guys are gone

You are best to contact Dell all the time.

The issue of unknown previous owner, takes longer to resolve, but once all info (known) is given. It will be only $39 (outside warranty)

Regarding the gone other members.
These members were telling members to purchase passwords from them at a high costs, without even finding out if they could resolve it cheaply first (ie Dell)
That was the main reason for my concern
Also it was against the boards TOS

thank you all for your knowledge and input. I will keep trying the Dell solution you guys posted. Out of curiosity what type of schooling would i need to write algorithms for an application like this?
