Old Dell Latitude HDD Password Needed

I recently bought a Dell Latitude secondhand at a yard sale in town. The seller has no documentation as he acquired it the same way a couple of years ago. He was unable to solve the locked HDD issue and was unwilling to purchase another drive because the unit was too old. I have a few uses for it but am also unwilling to purchase another drive if I can avoid it. I have seen where some folks have been helped so I thought I would give it a shot and hope for some kind soul to lend a hand. Here goes:

Dell Latitude CPt
Model NO: PPX
Service Tag: either 6CEN4 OR 6DEN4 (sorry, the tag is worn and almost illegible)
Express Service Code: 107-032-00

Hard Disk Info:
Fujitsu MHK2060AT ID: HTIN
Ser. No. : 01043209 Date 2000-01

#***01043209-D35B

Hopefully someone out there can help. Otherwise, it's an oversized paperweight.

i waited for free password, asked dell support ...no luck!!! paid 75$ to a guy
Dell don't do free passwords, they're $39 No more to pay !
You then paid some guy $75 ?? Why ? Firstly you wanted it free! Then you paid more than required !

Yes the bad guys are gone

no, I meant the guys or the one guy who gave out passwords for free.
the other I don't care as I said this alot of times before...

Oh I see
Actually I'm glad cleared that up, because I was worried that you wanted the bad ones, for some reason

Anyway this message can be removed

if your only problem is the hdd password than throw the hdd away and get a new one. since you never accessed it there are no data you can lose.
btw the service tag is readable in the bios screen (f2) and for cpt laptops the shorting method should work. plus, you could use the old password generator because your laptop wears the d35b password mechanism.

really I don't see a problem for you...

that information was available to you all the time. so please first read through the forums and try search function.

good luck

yes i waited for free..!!

feel free to do that

but i think RUSTAM_ OR PREDATOR r no longer posting here...and till now there is no guy can do this for free

yes, they seem to be off. predator gave out hdd passwords for free but not master passwords.

i cant bare that DELL inc ask for money after a lot of stupid qwestions (ownership)! and not sure they will supply me...

they wont give passwords to anybody because they could support a thief for example and the intention is to protect customer data which might still be inside the computer. you can compare it with mobile phones. why do you have a pin for the phone and a password for the contract... well you can't change, nobody can

so i think better to go through and pay someone and get the password quik!.

only you can decide that. I think it is only fair to pay somebody who put alot of work and time in building a generator for dell passwords. I don't like it but I can understand it.

also i noticed that KIMSLAND & mscrx can only redirect reqwesting passwords to DELL inc!!! that seems strange.

whats strange about it? kimsland and I only show others the cheapest way. for us it makes a difference to pay dell $39 or to pay somebody else $50 or $75. we have no personal gain doing that.

for no correct reason maybe my posts will be deleted as the last one!

that can only be done by a admin or mod

cheers, mscrx

Just a small additive

for no correct reason maybe my posts will be deleted as the last one!
All posts, quoting email addresses to others who ask for money (other than manufactures) will be reported immediately for deletion.

TechSpot forum is Non Profit to support members (sad but true)

That's why.

There is an astonishing amount of work and time, and specialty knowledge, as well as a very big investment in equipment...
So why would anybody want to, or afford to do this password thing for free? Not to mention the risk.

and extensive research it will not boot with a boot disk a recovery disk it just takes me to the dredded grey screen can any body help please

The quote above from Dell is real
The customer service rep gave his name and badge number (I don't know why they call it badge number, but whatever, it's real)
Also please post the UK link when you get it

Pokerchip, the old D35B laptops bios can be unlocked with the dell password remover available on the net. Off the top of my head, I don't remember if the HD pass can be removed with it, but its worth looking for and giving it a shot

How to short 24c164n

Hi everybody! I have a big problem with my dell Inspiron 5100.
I am trying to remove the password authentication logo which block me get in the bios or everywhere else.
I know that I have to short the 24c02 IC on the motherboards but unfortunately for me Inspiron 5100 has 24c164n and I don't know how to short this IC, I have already tried to short pins 3 and 6 like on the 24c02 but with no success.
Please I need help! Would someone very kind help me with this matter?
Many thanks in advance.

yes, I already said so....

and guys, I absolutely agree with what kimsland said. I asked my dell rep and this option should be available for all over europe. I will try to get a direct link for uk, germany, italy, france, netherlands and spain. hope I can squeeze it out of them...
