Dell is the easiest, fastest way. They will send the tech back with software to do this. Any other method puts the computer at risk of greater failure. The tech had the disk if he is a Dell tech or a warranty tech. He or She probably still has it.
Just demand what you paid for and what you have to the right to do.

I have tried 3&6 directly after I pushed the powerbutton.. with the same result everytime.. The machine powers off, and still no unlock :( Also just tried the 3+56 simutaneously.. with no luck...

HP NC8230 laptop Bios Admin Password

Hello all hardware wizards, sorry to take your precious time  .

I just purchased HP NC8230 laptop from eBay. It's really great laptop. The laptop not require boot password and so it reaches to windows XP, but unfortunately I discovered that its bios is admin protected, therefore I can't access bios and make any modification. I know that these business laptops have extra bios protection and therefore it's not so easy task to reset their password.

Can someone, that have experience with this kind of laptops, help me? It would be very appreciated.

Above link is mainly for Dell laptops. On my HP NC8230 I even don't know how to get hash code, since the sequence is not F2+F12, Bios accessible by pressing F10 not F2. After I got request for the password and I press F12 nothing happening.

Correct. I believe it was first made for Dell password help.

But it is now extended to HP, and therefore all questions and support (ie answers!)
Must go to that thread only

Thanks too all who commented.. was pins 3 & 6 and my problem has since been solved.. all I needed was a paperclip, and a screwdriver, can't believe all that soldering went on before. So when all in all it was user error.. Thanks again.

ozmaia, to remove admin bios password, you'll need to unsolder bios chip, and reflash it using external programmator.

he dosnt need to reflash bios chip, nor erase the eeprom like DELL paperclip cause the laptop wont boot!!!, he only need to read the eeprom dump with a I2C rs232 interface reader and try to to locate the password....

How do users get and read with a I2C rs232 interface reader?

    Is the above link one?
If so, where does it plug into, and how do you read the chip?

to clear bios admin password for some laptops read steps below,
Under Dos/ MAKE A BOOT FLOPPY OR CD, you can use debug command to reset cmos CRC stored at 0x2E-0x2F type:
    debug
    -o 70 2E
    -o 71 0
    -q

    reboot

Without looking up those debug commands
Will they also hurt harddrive files or filesystem

dbpk , thanks man on information but it sounds very complicated task to whom never done "mission" like that before. Even though I'm ex technician and definitely not frightened clipping reader wires to EEProm, I'm quite rusted :approve: (maybe I'm lazy too  ) and so I need more information how to perform all procedure (for example at which EEProm pins wires have to connected etc). Can you please give me more details and open my eyes?

    Anyways, many thanks dbpk :grinthumb
