HP Deskjet 855C Woes

Hi all,

Have the printer mentioned above. Went to print something, and the job had just started when I realized that it wasn't what I wanted to print... so I (stupidly) killed the power to the printer, deleted the job out of the print queue, waited a little, and turned on the printer. Printer spits out a page of garbage at me. So I turned off the printer, and rebooted the computer, and tuned the printer on again... Printer is still spitting out garbage.

Tried the HP website, but seeing as to how the 855C is a legacy device, not much help.

Turned it off for a few days, and now the printer spits out garbage no matter what. There's no job in the print queue either...

Help's appreciated,

Uninstall the printer, then reinstall with the newest drivers.

ok...

forgive me if this sounds like silly question, but how do I uninstall the printer? Do I just go to "printers and faxes" in CP, select the printer, and hit delete?

Here's what I did:

-Did above
- then said "manually install printer"
- printer is hooked into lpt1 and it was found, said "replace drivers".
- Still back to square 1. Still printing gibberish.
