HP laptop keyboard responds as numbers and letters

  1. I have a HP laptop keyboard that isn't responding correctly. It displays a "1q 2w 3e 4r 7u 8i 9o 0p" on the screen when the respective letter is typed. I undestand how the "Fn" key and the "Num Lock" key works but this is not the issue. Any advice to remedy this would be appreciated. I've had this laptop for 18 months and it just started doing this. I can't seem to find anyone on the internet that is having the exact same problem. They only have what appears to be a similar issue but not this exact number letter combination.

Have you tried using a USB external keyboard?

    Ummm... google: keyboard "1q 2w 3e"

You might try looking in Device Manager under Mouse and Keyboard. Uninstall the drivers then reboot (or just click Action->Scan for hardware changes in Dev Mgr) for Windows to reinstall.

Otherwise try using external keyboard/mouse. (Any chance your warranty is beyond 12 months?)
