HP notebook will not boot

one of my fans cuts off after 4 seconds and zv5000 pavilion will not boot. How much to fix fan??

Is it just the fan cutting out or does the whole machine turn off as well?

Do you see anything on the screen at all in the couple of seconds it stays on?

no

it's just black and the other fan runs, I just want to find out if fixing the fan might fix it

The computer may actually not be POSTING. When this happens, the computer fires up and you hear the fans compensating for the CPU and then they cut off after a few seconds and the machine 'idles' with not much activity. So it may not actually be the fan that's faulty, just the computer ceases to go anywhere after the initial 'Power On' state
