  1. I have a HP Pavilion dv 1000 laptop that I had installed a new hard drive so then I can reinstall windows. But when I turn on the laptop it will not leave from the the very first screen where it says "HP invent", where you can choose to go into the bios, change boot sequence or boot from LAN. I would try to get into the bios and it will just stay on "please wait". I would choose change boot sequence and it will say and freeze:

    Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1
    Copyright 1985-2003 Phoenix Technologies Ltd.
    All Rights Reserved

    BIOS version F.21
    Build Time: 12/22/05 16:34:39

    CPU = Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
    1016M System RAM Passed
    2048K Cache SRAM Passed
    System BIOS shadowed
    Video BIOS shadowed
    FIXED Disk 0: WDC WD800BEVE-00A0HT0
    ATAPI CD-ROM: TSSTsorpSD?DVD ts=532M0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

    Now the wierd part is when I remove the new hard drive and boot it without any hard drive it will pass the post screen and ask me to plug in the ethernet cable. Thank you in advance for any adivce.
