HW Clock Slowdown Due to temperature

There is currently something wrong with my video card it seems. After 30 mins of playing Oblivion, it artifacts wildly for a split second and everything goes back to normal. But my fps dropped by more than half. The card is an 7800 GS with watercooling and overclocked. There is no cooling on the memory however it does not even get warm at all. Can anyone tell me what the problem is???

Sounds like you have overclocked a bit too far!!!!

To overclock properly, you need to thoroughly test everything you do then if you have problems like the one you describe you should clock down a little bit by bit untill all is well!!!!

But highest temp is only 45Celsius on watercooling. However it does not artifact at all. After 1 hour of playing Oblivion, for some reason there a bunch of artifacts on the screen for a split second. Then everything is ok, but my fps have gone down by half. The card it underclocking itself
