I can't install The Sims 2

Everytime I try installing it, I get a popup at around 4% that says;

"A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file
'D:\Base\TSData\Res\Locale\Japanese\Sims3D\Objects.package' from the media.

Do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation?"

I always click retry but nothing happens and the same message just pops up over and over again.

Please help!

Try cleaning the CD. There might be something on it that is preventing the drive from reading it.
