i think computer crashed need help

    My friend has a compaq model #7470 The problem is when the computer is turned on a blue screen apears and says windows shut down to protect your computer we tried quick restore and f8 options nothing works,it just goes back to the blue screen. I do not know muck about computers. please help thanks

    You need to provide a little more info - ie what OS are you using, can you start up in safe mode, what was the last thing your friend did before the blue screen started. Have you run scandisk, try scanreg /restore to go back a few days.
