Source means that the Counter-Strike mod has been revamped to use the advanced features of the Source engine, which is the engine HL2 is based on. Its basically a nicer looking and much better version of the original CS. I would highly recommend it. That pack u mentioned is standard issue and its a good deal IMO.

Games hot right now are:
NFS: Most Wanted
Battlefield 2 + Special Forces Addon Pack
F.E.A.R.
Call of Duty 2
Halo
Half Life 2
Counter Strike: Source
Doom 3 + Resurrection of Evil expansion pack
Quake 4
Guild Wars
World Of Warcraft

QFT...Those definetly are THE best games out right now...definetly pick yourself up a copy of COD2 and Battlefield 2 and I bet you will be sick from work for a week :grinthumb

$59.99 is a lot for the HL2 game of the year edition. I bought it on sale for $39.99 at circuit city, but even full price was $49.99. I've really only played HL2 so far, but it's nice to get more than just 1 game for your money. HL2 is a great game, by the way. The graphics will really impress you!

I just finished playing Far Cry, and it's one of the best games I've ever played. Give it a try.
I need to sit down and actually finish Far Cry. For me it was one of those games that I get started on and then for some reason I don't touch it for a couple of months so then I feel the need to start over. New games that I want just keep coming out soon after I get going on it.

Yeah that's what I have heard. I have been saying that I need to finish myself for a while now. I was going good on it again for a whle and probably whould have finished it if it wasn't for Quake 4 and Call of Duty 2.

Try UT2004 also and for the Halflife 2 just get the game itself. You can download the original if you really want to but its not needed to play HL2 and get it. HL2 also comes with CS:S so you wont have to buy it extra or anything.

Going with mastronaut on good budget games, I'd recommend the Homeworld series, excluding Homeworld 2 which was a POS. Other good games include:
Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project(wahoo I have an Ego bar instead of a Health bar!)
Serious Sam: The First Encounter and its two sequels(not Serious Sam 2)
The original Half-Life and its addon packs, Opposing Force and Blue Shift
Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
The Max Payne games
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Or u can do what I do, get a Sega Genesis or a SNES emulator and download ROMs and play! Great old school fun!!!

I think I must have played just about evry shooter out there and i really like them. Civ IV is currently my new obsesssion. It just seems to get more complex and fun the more I play. A nice break from the shooter genre.

Enemy Territory fans, you must try this! It's a total conversion mod called 'True Combat Elite'. Urban warfare with kick *** graphics! I downloaded it last night and damn if I'm not completely hooked. It's definately worth a look for all fans of Wolfenstein. :grinthumb

I am playing through Doom III for the first time, and I love it! It is really creepy, and the graphics are awesome. I got it for $20, so it's pretty cheap. Try the demo!

it might have been said before(I gave up reading all replays in mid first page), but in that case I just second that guy

Vampire the masquarade - bloodlines (I still play this old thing today every now and then)
deus ex - invisible war (like vepire, it's a kind od an FPS\TPS quest...very nice)
Advent Rising - an amazing game if u like being the super-hero guy who needs to save every1 and be really cool and is the "have no fear, I am here" type :)
FEAR (I saw it was mentioned before, but it's worth enought to be rementioned)
the suffering - ties that bind. it's very nice, but very hard to get used to (extreamly hard if u've never seen the first "the suffering")
area 51. E.T's coming to lunch, and u're it. fun, but not all too long (very nice story...feels like a movie in a game in some way)...quite old, but good non the less
psy ops. again, if u like beein a "I can do it all" super-hero...u want to get this (not so new like area 51, but not bad at all!)

and last but not least, metrix path of new (PON). I just love going kung-fu on a bunch of *****s...and this give's u just that, in the extream

I hope u'll enjoy which ever ones u play
Neowizard

Yeah, Bloodlines and Deus Ex are both great games IMO, a nice break from the usual FPS.
The Suffering itself was a great game (in a twisted, demented but nevertheless fun and creepy kind of way) and Ties That Bind is also the same, only a bit shorter.
The Hitman series are also one of my all-time favourite games, as are Unreal Tournament and all the Star Wars games, especially Battlefront, Empire at War and the KoTOR games.

bf2142, bf2, moh,cod umm bfv spellforce 2, red alert, age of epmires 3, roller coaster tycoon 3, css,cs 1.6, csz cant think of any more atm :)

I am currently playing guild wars, its awsome. i play it on dial up with no problems, but for 50 bucks its kind of pricey. It has Great graphics, and a great story line
Can't agree with you on the story line, but I loved Guild Wars back in the day. The expansions made it way worse though... I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2 now :)

OBLIVION IS PWNAGE!!!
BATTLEFIELD 2
DOOM 3
COMPANY OF HEROES

Those are all good games, but IMHO, the best 2 games in the world right now, as of 10:42PM EST on March 30th, 2007, are:

F.E.A.R.

and

SUPREME COMMANDER
