i wiped my hd and tried to install windows xp..says "no operating system"

  1. I just erased all my partitions and everything on my hard drive. Now I'm trying to install windows xp but it says cannot find a previous version of windows. I only have the windows xp cd. Why wont it work?? Any suggestions. DO i need to install windows 98 or me or 2000 to upgrade to xp...????

    Sounds to me like you are trying to use a upgrade cd you will need a full version cd of 98 then place in the upgrade one ...

    You wont need to "install" 98...just have the cd ready when XP asks..;)
