IBM supercomputer is world's new fastest?

  1. IBM is claiming that its new supercomputer is the world's fastest, and steals the crown from Earth Simulator as the top of the top 500. The Blue Gene/L machine has reached a sustained peak of 36.01 trillion calculations per second—or 36.01 teraflops—during internal tests in the company's laboratory in Rochester, Minn.
