Just got my new/used laptop online, started installing all the "stuff" like
Firefox and all the security apps listed on this board - making a duplicate
of the setup on my desktop that's worked so well - thanks to the folks on
this site! I've got XP Pro sp2, latest Firefox and latest other app's listed
below.
Anyway, I've installed Firefox - so far so good, AVG Free and AVG Spyware,
Spyblocker and NoScript. Have also added things like Flash Player, Real Player,
Java console, etc.
Now, when I get on the internet in a variety of places, thumbnails and numerous icons don't show - i.e. when I get an email (thru Excite) instead of the thumbnail or the actual picture if it's embedded in the message, I get a small icon that I have to click on to open the picture, etc.
Another example is on eBay - none of the thumbnails and many other little things on any eBay page don't open - they also have to be clicked and opened on a separate page.
I've looked till I'm blue in the face and can't find any setting in anything that looks like it would fix that. i.e. on eBay, I made sure all the scripts are allowed, AdBlocker is turned off for eBay, etc. Looked thru all the Options on FireFox, can't find anything. I've got the same programs on my desktop but never did have that problem on it.
Appreciate any tips and where to look to turn off (or on?) whatever it is.
Like right now, above this message box, I've got the formatting wording for the
page, such as "Bold Italic Underline" "Align Left" etc.
Is that maybe something to do with Java? I'm not familiar at all with that.
