IDE controller drivers - LG CD-RW 8042B

    Updated from 98 to XP Pro. The LG CD-RW was only recognized as a CD-ROM. Downloaded and installed the update from Roxio for the Direct CD recording software. Direct CD now freezes when starting the program. LG advised that I need to update the IDE controller drivers. Device manager indicates the primary and secondary drivers are provided by Microsoft, v. 5.1.2600.0, and that the SiS PCI IDE Controller driver was manufactured bySilicon Integrated Systems, file version 5.1.2600.1106, xpspl.020828-1920.

    I am at a loss here, and can't find any references to the drivers I am looking for. The LG CD-RW uses firmware version 1.07.

    Can anyone advise what to do next?

    it is not uncommon for therte to be criver problems when doing an upgrade of an OS the first thing to do would be to uninstall the ide channel that the CD RW is on. ( as long as it is on the secondary IDE not on the primary with the Hard drive)

    reboot and windows should detect it properly and install the proper driver.
