Can I run both a SATA drive and an IDE hard drive? My mb has both connectors. Can I boot from either and what is the main advantage of SATA over IDE?

    hi there

yes u can. they just need to be configured properly in the BIOS. The advantage of sata over ide is speed and no need for the old master / slave setup.

    hope that helps

    Hello,

Lanarkshire IT is correct. You will gain a lot more speed using a SATA hard drive over IDE.

Actually many (most) computers run Sata and IDE connections at the same time
ie Sata Hard Drive, and ATA DVD Drive
Both are drives, and work together

Yes you can run Sata And IDE in the same machine, but make sure that the boot sequence in Bios Setup is set appropriately to start the correct boot (or system) Drive (hopefully being the Sata one)
