I would like to know how long the protective plastic will be left on the box.

I think this is an SFP/+ fiber line which means it can go 10,000mbps, but Google limits it to 1,000mbps right now.
I was a little surprised it uses one wire for both TX and RX. Or at least it appears that is the case, I could be mistaken. The cable is just too small to really tell and I don't know much about fiber optics, but the Google guy said this runs both the gigabit internet and "record 8 shows at a time" DVR HDTV service if you opt for that.
Here is a pic of the actual fiber cable. It's just a little bigger than a hair. The blue part is the plastic covering, you can barely see the glass hair coming out of one end.
The Google guy gave me this scrap piece after he crimped the line.
I'm taking it off before they activate it! LOL

I wonder if Google did this for my birthday, since they know everything about me from Google +. If so, I am ever grateful.
