nah get an ati video card the much better (well thats just my opinion)

Are you sure you just don't want to go AM2 at this stage? Why go Socket 939?

Also, are you outside of NewEgg's shipping regions or picking Tigerdirect for some other reason?

Example DDR2-800, AM2 system that can definately be cheaper by cutting corners (lower performing ram, different HD, etc.etc.)

Asus M2N-E NForce 570 Ultra MCP (SLI) Heatpipe cooling included- $95.99

Athlon 64 3200+ 2000mhz AM2 processor - $104.99

OCZ Cas4, 2x512mb (1024mb total) DDR2-800mhz memory - $114.99 ($104 after rebate)

Saphire X1600 Pro 256mb PCI-Express $109.99 ($89.99 after rebate)

Seagate NL35 8MB cache SATA-150 250gig drive - $88.99

All being told, well under $500 after rebates but for a far superior system, industry leading parts/makers, and more future-proof for upgrades. Moreover, if AMD does get reversed-hyperthreading working, you'll want the extra bandwidth DDR2-800, dual-channel affords.

Dont worry bout wat tickner says! he likes ati and doesn't like nvidia. and the reason for that is cos his PRE-BUILT system from acer and it has an ati (and its intergrated)

Not that i have anything againts ATI or Nvidia!

zac loves it jsut cause my new computer is better than urs zacery

sharkfood i have nothing against newegg i just use tigerdirect all the time. the system u suggested is good. did u check to make sure everything is compatible? cause i like the system ur showin me.
im gonna look around the site.
everyone else tell me what they think will be good for under $500 (memory, hd, cpu, mo/bo, video card.) thanx
