[Inactive] Is my computer useless or is it another virus?

recently my computer has been unable to open any programs, it always asks me to select a program to open it with (even with applications such as Firefox, media player and word). i also am un able to play mp3 files, install programs, and open mcafee security center. i have been able to get around the problem by running programs with there own applications but this is very inconvenient, sounds like a virus, please help.

Jerry, the link above will lead you to run several steps. These will help us see what is on your system and if there is malware, two of the programs will remove some of it. When you have finished, please leave the logs from Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and HijackThis.

We will review the logs and determine the best course for you. I would like to ask one question:
Is this a new problem? What did you do before it began, such as update, install, uninstall.
