Recently, any file I play that is in 5.1 surround sound does not convert correctly to stereo. The PC is connected to a receiver that is connected to two stereo speakers. Up until now, I have been able to play files with 5.1 sound channels and they converted to stereo without issue. Now when I try to play a file with 5.1 channels, it sounds like the surround channels are sent to one speaker, while the center channel is sent to the other. Thus the conversations only come out of one speaker. The default audio setting for both Windows 7 and the receiver is "stereo". I have both a sound card (audigy 2) as well as on-board (the problem remains no matter which card I use). Any ideas of what might be causing this?
