Heavily infected Dell dimension 8400 (porn sites from teenage son) running XP Home

While running the 8 steps in the Maleware step the computer wanted to reboot and did

When I tried to log back in 1) asked me for password, the 2) said something about Windows needed to restore some files from my Windows XP service pack 3 CD as they had been replaced by unrecognized files.

I don't seem to have a Svc Pack 3 CD and it just said wrong disk

Now when reboot, I get login/password screen and then only blank Dell background screen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you try Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration?
