Infected with "security toolbar" and spyware ads. Please help.

  1. I am infected with something that downloaded a security toolbar, pop up ads mostly for spyware, critical system warnings, and balloons warning me about malware threats, etc. I've been searching the web trying to see if I can try what other people have done, but it seems as those each case is unique. I ran a hijackthis scan and attached the results.

I have tried scans using Norton and AVG, but neither are catching it. I downloaded spynomore as well, but when I tried to run it I kept getting an application error and now I can't even remove it from my computer. I would greatly appreciate some help. Thank you.

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the Panda Antirootkit scan.

    Regards Howard
