  1. hey everyone. I am having some serious problem with my computer. A day ago i was browsing when i got a message from my norton A.V that it blocked some virus file by the name Infostealer.gampass and also another one by the name of root.hackit(or something like that). however after running a full sytem scan numerous of times the file Infostealer.gampass keeps coming up.so i think it's still on my pc some how norton doesn't seem to be able to get rid of it. i've even tried updating my norton but no luck.its still there and a message keep pooping up every minute from norton that it blocked the file infostealer.gampass.now my pc is starting to run very slow and i tried running a full system scan again but now i get a meassage coming up that some files may be missing. can anyone please tell me how to get rid of this virus i would really appreciate it cause im starting to worry.

    hi silverwolf21.
it seem that norton hasn't stopped other things. it may not have done what it claims to have done either.
go to this LOCATION and follow the instructions. it is important that you follow them to the letter!!
you must also rename 'hijack this' to 'analyse 1991' or similar. after the scans are complete post the 'hjt' log and 'avg' log.

this thread is for silverwolf21only. if you have similar problems , please start a new thread in 'security and the web forum

i would also suggest that you swap norton for a better av programme.

In the link that tomrca gave you it says to attach a HJT log as well as an AVG Antispyware and Combofix log. It also says to let us know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

    Please supply the information requested.

Log files must be posted as attachments and not copy and pasted.

    Regards Howard :)

Delete all files in AVG Antispyware quarantine.

After running Combofix, please post the Combofix log as well as a fresh HJT log.

Let us know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

    Regards Howard :)
