Install problem

I'm trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition on a Windows XP Professional.
During Installation, I received this message as shown below:
"Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition server Component is not supported on this operating system. Only client components will be available for installation."
What should I do?? Is it a must to install the SQL 2000 server on Windows xp or 7

You can't install SQL Server (Ent. Edition on a Client Machine as described in the error. According to Microsoft here is the list of supported operating systems:

Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0 with Service Pack 5 (SP5) or later
Windows NT Server version 4.0, Enterprise Edition, with SP5 or later
