Installation/hardware problem help please

  1. Hey i am new to this computer stuff i have a desktop that i am having alot of problems with and i dont have a boot floppy just a cd rom for windows 98

    i tryed to install the cd and it says :

    Cannot create files on drive,Cannot setup windows 98

    If you have HPFS or NTFS create MS-DOS boot partition
    If you have Lantastic or superstore compressions disable before running setup"


    I dont know what to do
    Is there anyone out here whom can help me
    and if it has to do with comands i need it fully explained as i am new
    i dont even know how to reformat but willing to learn

    May i ask is there a way to do that ?

    all i have on it right now is a black screen with a little line wanting me to type something

    Those are links kimsland posted. Follow them, download Memtest, then burn it to a CD. The Memtest ".iso" file gets burned as an image. If you do not understand the "image" part, post back and we'll try to give you more details.

    98 problems

    hello i am still having issues
    i found out that my computer(desktop) is running 98 second edition but when i tryed to hook up the internet it has problems
    it wont load the internet
    i checked in the device manager and the chip is listed
    and i cant update nothing
    i tryed to run the normal 98 cd it formatted then restarted and said files are missing

    i am lost and confuse

    can anyone give me a hand
