Installation of Windows XP SP3 Corrupts computer

I have just installed windows xp service pack 3, followed procedues to the fullest extent. When I attempt to boot my computer, it make it to the Windows XP loading screen, frezzes, and hangs there until I hold the power button.

What caused this and how is it fixable???

VERY last resort is format. VERY VERY LAST RESORT.

This utility checks for the correct GINA value in the Registry and will allow you to restore it, if its incorrect.

You will need to download it from the computer your on now
Save it to CD (actually extract it first) or USB Flash drive (may not work)
Then go to Safe Mode (repeatively press F8 key on Windows startup)
Select Safe Mode
Run the fixlogon reg, yes import
Restart
