I purchased some computer typing software so my son could learn to type. When I put the disc in it wouldn't load. I have Windows Vista, so I had to install it using the compatibility wizard. Basically I set the software up so that it would run as if it was running in Windows XP. I was able to get it loaded and most of the game works, but there are a few components that don't. These don't work because it says I don't have DirectX 8.0 installed. I have DirectX 9.0 There was nothing in the compatibility wizard that would allow me to run it in an older version of DirectX. I don't want to unistall Direct X 9.0 and run 8.0 because then some of my newer programs won't work.
I tried installing DirectX 8.0 from the CD software menu and I got this error message
E:\directx8\DX8l.eng.exe The required operation requires elevation.
My question is: Is there a way to run Direct X 8.0 and 9.0 at the same time, or just to run 8.0 for this one program?
