  1. installed new hard drive and when I turn it on it gives me a "non-system disk or disk error, replace and hit any key to continue." is there a bios setting or a jumper I need to change?
    thanks

If you already have a SATA hard drive installed with an operating system on it, format the new hard drive through Disk Management.

If neither the old hard drive, nor the new one will boot, isn't it possible that the problem is elsewhere?
I would remove and reseat all the cables. Then look at your SATA drivers.
