Installing Windows XP

I have a PC which has Windows XP installed and have the recovery disk. I also have a laptop which now has nothing installed on it at all. Can I use the recovery disk to install windows on the laptop or do I need to buy a whole new Windows OS. Sorry to sound thick but I'm unsure about all of this stuff
Many thanks for any advice

To put it simply, your computer has to have hardware required to run whatever OS you're installing on it. Normally you should get the recovery disk for your specific computer type. (For example, an HP recovery disk wont work on a DELL OS-less computer)

You can ask ANY question here you like. No question is too minor. People here are all at different stages, and you'll never progress without asking. Ask away, that's what we are here for.
