As anticipated in previous reports, Intel today officially announced three new Atom processors and the low-power NM10 Express chipset that will form the basis for its next-generation Pine Trail platform. The single-core Atom N450 is intended for netbooks, while the single-core D410 and dual-core D510 were built for nettops or what Intel refers to as entry-level desktop PCs.

Disappointing that they aren't providing much of a performance boast over current Atom Processors. I think Intel could pack a lot more power into these chips if they wanted to, but they are afraid that it would harm sales of systems with their more profitable higher end CPUs.

more power = more energy draw. at some point you have to decide what a good balance is. I think intel has actually done a fairly good job in that department.

It's not a surprise the chip performance is not different from the previous generation, as an increase would make the Atom package compete with other intel solutions. Well, at least they finally got rid of that 945 crap
