looking to build a new computer, and I am completely stuck whether to put my trust in the reliable sandy 2500K, or to go for ivy 3550.

what are the main differences between the two?
    pros and cons of either?
    best bang for buck?
    best gaming performance?
    futureproofing?

any answers would be very, very welcome.

    thanks guys :)

A more valid comparison is the 2500K vs 3570K, as both are multiplier unlocked.

If you're hardcore overclocking go with the 2500K, if you're not OCing or want a mild OC go with the 3570K for lower temps and lower power consumption.

There's about a 5-10% difference in favour of the 3570K for CPU intensive tasks, and no difference when gaming.
