  1. Hi all! Good day. It was great reading all these posts. Thanks. But 1 thing concerns me, though. I'm about to buy a new laptop with i5 750 on it - operating on xp. Would it be wise to do this if I'm to use my laptop in CAD operations (modeling/renderring/etc)?
    Best regards,
    Ian

You wont find any laptop running a Core i5 750.

FYI: The 750 is a desktop part that requires a desktop socket. LGA 1156 in this case.
    Core i5 mobile CPU's ( 4/5xxM/UM) utilise µPGA-989 sockets, while Core i7 mobile CPU's (which have a 720QM and 740QM model numbers) use µPGA-988 sockets.

Your best bet would be to join the forums and post a thread regarding possible system/software suite configurations. You will get better tailored advice from those here that have the requisite knowledge. I personally don't do any heavy lifting with laptops-for me they are still "desktop-lite" and a tool to stop the person in the airplane seat next to me trying to initiate conversation about their vacation.
  3. @dividebyzero: Cool! Thanks for the info. What advice can you give as to what specs is the best for a laptop to be used for CAD modeling? Thanks again.
    Best Regards,
    Ian

As I mentioned in my last post, I'm not really one of the high-performance-in-a-bag crowd. Mobile computing for me is still at glorified PDA + solitaire level...I can't even bear to watch video on the things most of the time.
Best advice I can give is, join the forums (it's a fairly painless exercise and wont require you to give up your firstborn) and start a thread looking for input regarding current mobile computing and 3D modelling software. I would also include budget and what size laptop your were looking for (i.e. desktop replacement or smaller).
Since the mobile computing sector seems to move quite rapidly, and getting the choice right first time (since upgrading afterwards might not be feasible) is a major factor I would strongly suggest that you gain as much insight as possible from people here that have the expertise.
  5. ive recently brought i5 650 with ATI Rad HD 5750... Can any one tell me is this okay for hi-fi gaming...
  6. Hi,

The I5-750 supports real virtualization to the point that it can run 2 different operating systems using physical hardware. No need to simulate graphics cards etc anymore.

  7. Hello!

    Very good review. :)

I'm looking at a CPU/mobo replacement in the near future and its certainly worth considering!

    I also noticed it has VT-x enabled, so I can run 64bit guest OS's with it. :D my current Core2Quad Q8300 doesn't. :(
  10. I have Intel Core-i5 750 Processor with Transcend 02 GB Ram & 1 GB Graphics card. The OS is Windows 07.

Is there is any problem with Transcend RAM as some one is suggesting to use Kingston as the Transcend Memories are not good performer.

I am facing stucking problem during higher end graphics while playing games during bomb blasts & all.

Is it a normal or do i have to upgrade my Hardware?

There is nothing wrong with Transcend and or Kingston memory. If your FPS are dropping during heavy action sequences, you could use a faster GPU.

  14. Will this motherboard be good enough for latest programs and some games:
    http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=eCWbkolMf0DOW0IV&templete=2
Plus, Processor, would be AMD Phenom II x6 1090T BE,
Adding, ATI Radeon™ HD 4290 vga,
And about 4GB RAM, and 1TB hard.
Will this all be good enough for about couple of years?
  15. Also, I'm forward to see any recommendations with this Intel processor. :)
