iPod causing Windows 2000 to reboot

  1. oldish computer, oldish user. my kids got me an ipod, which I am only learning how to use. I do love it now, but I am visiting relatives with 5 yr old computer running windows 2000. each time I try to hook my ipod to itunes, the whole thing reboots. It doesn't happen when I plug the cable into the usb port, but when I plugit into the ipod, it instantly shuts down. I don't know much tech stuff, be gentle! ^_^

    The Windows 2000 computer is updated to SP 3 (Service Pack 3)?

    well, I have SErvice Pac 4, so I guess we got 3 before that.

    It has been a long time since i worked with Win2K. This must be caused by a hardware incompatibility between the iPod and the motherboard

    Not much... You could try upgrading the computer to XP, otherwise i think you are out of luck here
