After I got the "cable unplugged" figured out. I realized I forgot how to get the network working again. My scenario...
Both XP Home
computer 1 was left intact.
computer 1 can access the internet
computer 2 can't access anything
was previously networked until computer 2 hard drive died on me
installed windows on a diffrent hard drive on computer 2
router in place.

What can I do to get computer 1 and 2 to see and acces each other and to have computer 2 acess the internet?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Run the network setup wizard on comp2, its also best if you set it to the same workgroup as comp1.

Thanks...

I found that reinstalling NIC worked best. Then doing the wizard. Thanks...Mind you, I attempted the wizard before and failed. Odd eh?...Damn Microsoft!! :)

uninstall the NIC driver and then reinstalling should have the same effect without
removing the hardware.
