Issues with Realtek HD audio driver

  1. In the past week I've been having issues with my speakers. For some reason they do not seem to detect my audio drivers. My little speaker icon displays "no audio output device is installed". I've tried many things, but they all seem to fail. I've tried restarting my computer, reformatting my computer, updating my audio driver, uninstalling and reinstalling my audio driver, downloading the newest update from my computer manufacturer's website, downloading the drivers directly from the Realtek website. For a while, downloading the drivers from the realtek website worked, but my computer would crash and then the sound would fail again. I've tried reinstalling the realtek hd audio driver through the device manager, but it gives me an error and says it can't install. I'm not sure what to do anymore, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    My computer: Sony Vaio VGN-NR110E
    OS: Windows 7
