I've killed my cd-rw - can anyone help??

    Hi all

    I've screwed up a firmware upgrade on my cd-rw - is there any way of recovering this?? :giddy:

    its a 4KUS cdr-5w40

    The pc will not boot up with it attached now

    Did you read the warning that said that updating the firmware unsuccessfully will render the drive unusable? They don't put that warning there for nothing you know.

    I suppose you could try to pry open the drive and see if the ROM chip is removable. Don't count on it though, it may be easier to just go and get a new drive.
