"If you can't beat them, join them." I think Apple is somewhat following along that. They know they can't beat jailbreakers on the offensive, so they may as well let them join Apple, effectively beating the jailbreakers.

Or rather they will be replaced by new 'jailbreakers'.

Yup. And with Apple gaining Comex and his knowledge, that's just one less jailbreaker working against them and one more "jailbreaker" working against the new ones that surface. In the end, it's good for Apple.

Who wants to bet Comex will just take all of Apple's secrets and go back to the jailbreaking community? It's only an internship after all!

I was thinking the same thing. It seems insulting that they'd start him out only as an intern considering how many people use his tools to jail break their iCrap.

People will always be able to jailbreak stuff. Someone could just start something like a distributed rainbow table project, but for breaking apples encryption on a device, no matter how hard it would be to jailbreak, you could always just root the device using the security key, similar to ps3. Of course this isn't really similar, but you get the idea.

  13. If I can't jailbreak my iPhone then I wouldn't buy a new one and just keep using the JB iphone4 that I have. after all before the iPhone how many people updated the phone os ? My JB iphone4 does everything I need it to do.
