In my bios under advanced there is no chip option to select! can only select either PCI config or ide config!!

Yes the molex is plugged in!!

3dmark

I have now removed the drivers and installed the ones supplied with the card rather than the latest ones from nvidia. In the details of £Dmark the vga core clock is now 300.9mhz (before it was only 9.7mHz)
However the VGA memory clock is 12.8mHz still??

am I making progress, does this different driver open any doors??
or am I just clutching at straws???

I'm back early bc the weather was so crappy. Anywho how is your problem coming along? Did you update your mobo drivers from the link I pointed you to?

The clock speeds will make a huge difference. Can you use the nvidia console to manually increase the memory speed to it's default setting?

Mobo drivers

could not get the mobo drivers to work, apparently my bourd was adapted by sony so if I want an updated bios i have to go to sony or order it from esupport!

what is nvidia console????

Sorry weather so ****, crap over here too!!

Hey all!!

Just an update for all those that helped me!

I took the card to be tested and they found no fault. Tried a new 6600 and that had the same results, they then tried a 6800xt 128mb and that worked fine!!

I however, decided to upgrade and now have an AMD athlon 64bit 3.2+ with an nividia 6800gs and all is going fantastic, used benchmark 06 and got a result of 2480!!! Much happier, it seems that my old motherboard would not let you change the settings, instead of getting a new skt 478 board for my chip I got the AMD and went to PCI express!!

Thanks for all the help!!

Merv

Sounds like a very nice choice. I agree, if you had to upgrade the mobo, might as well go PCI-E with nForce4 chipset and a nice Athlon 64 CPU. 6800 GT is a much better card then the 6600GT anyways.

Take care.
