    Yup, and he's probably licking his chops. Latest WIRED has a good article about patent trolls... they said 92% of lawsuits that are fought are won by the defendents, but since the cost of settlement is ususally less than fighting it, everyone just settles and send this guy a check. His entire business model is buying patents with the intent to sue. Most of his targets are the small guys who can't afford to fight it. Small businesses who'd rather write a check for $25,000 than pull together a legal team and pay them twice that. It's basically extortion. 2011 was the first year Google and Apple spent more on patent litigation than research and development, but they do a good amount of suing themselves.

    I wouldn't worry though, I'm sure all those extra costs are paid for by giving the execs smaller bonuses and not by passing the costs along to the consumer.
