Lan connection problem

I have recently installed XP on my hp dv9000. Everything works except for when I try to connect to the internet with a cable. There's no problem connecting with WiFi. I have tried all of the available drivers on the hp website to no avail. If I go into the add harware option in the control panel, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the ethernet, I click on it and it tells me that 'The drivers are not installed for this device (code 28). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You need to download and install the drivers for your computer's ethernet. Go to your PC's manufacturer website (i.e. Dell, HP, etc.) and look for you specifc computer model. Download all the internet drivers and install them.

btw this is the introduce yourself thread. I suppose a mod will move it soon.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had previously installed all of the drivers from hp.com, I'm going to try uninstalling the driver completely then reinstalling it, will see what happens.
