Laptop issues

Had a message saying my battery needed replacing on my HP laptop.
Opted to order one online and after installing and charging it up when I turned my computer on it asked for a boot disk which I don't have. Minutes later the screen went BLUE
Does the generic battery have anything to do with this???

Turn off, disconnect, remove battery, connect charger alone, reboot ===> should work. If it does, then battery at fault - otherwise it is something else. HP has excellent diagnostics in support section.

Did that, off to a technician it went for lots of $$$$
