Is there any reason, running a Dell E1505 laptop that is less than 2.5 years old, that I couldn't install more than 2 1gb 667mhz ram, I went through the upgrade helper thing on dell and the highest it listed was 2 1gb chips and I was curious if I could get 2 2gb chips. I have 2 512mb chips now.

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-4200 or DDR2 PC2-5300 (if they are all the same) with a maximum of 1GB per slot* for a total of 2,048 MB.

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

You definitely cannot do what you described. It may not work at all... probably will not boot, and could even damage the motherboard... though usually it just refuses to work.
