have a compaq presario 2500 laptop. When i boot it up , it was
uncertain of where to boot from. So i reset it, now it tries to
initialise MBA, claims there is a cable media fault and cannot find
the os ?! I presume it is the Hard drive ? Another issue is that
i cannot open the laptop ? I removed all the screws ,battery, hard drive
and it is still stuck seemly at the rear of the laptop near the screen?
Is there some magical procedure to open the laptop?

Usually this means the connection on the HD is not secure. Reseat the drive. If you cannot boot, your OS may be corrupt. I highly suggest using a program like GOBack. It has saved me countless times from OS corruption and boot errors.
