Laptop will not charge

  1. I have a hp pavilion dv6000 laptop running vista. All of sudden my battery is not working. When the computer is plugged in; it states "plugged in, not charging".
Could this mean it is time to replace my battery? or something else.
    Any ideas??

I have a DV9000, which is the DV6000's bigger brother. They use the same charger.

I had the same problem, bought a new charger, and it works. I'd recommend you try this as well, the charger is fairly ubiquitous, available in most electronics and many retail stores.

newest dv9xxx series laptops use 3-pin PSU. the middle pin of PSU tells 2 PWM-charging controller that AC is ok. old dv6xxx or dv9xxx series laptops use simple 2-pin PSU. thus, the problem may be or with bad battery, or with mb faulty(max1908/1909), 99% probability that this is just dead battery.

I had a similar situation, if your laptop is still under warranty, you can get HP to replace it for free.
