This is my last resort on fixing our pc ourselves,

We have a ancient lol Gateway pc, We ordered it in 1999, it is a pentium111 450mhz processor
I has 32mb of memory (not sure about ddr or sdr???) I dont know anything about that,
My question is this is that processor big enough to handle the 256 mb ddr memory out of the emachines and the 80 gb
harddrive and windows xp?? and can I just add the memory card with what is in it now or would I have to take out the memory
and put this one in place of it??

The gateways harddrive is shot, before I put it away It would take anywhere from 10 to 20 times turning off and on to get it to boot (it is a 6gb) hdd
the cd rom (not burner) is working fine reads cds when I put them in, I will continue to try to get it to boot up only because I want to see it boot up lol

I so appreciate any help on this
    thanks

If you know the specific model just buy a compatible HD and start again.

Upgrading that would be like putting a 396 Chevy motor in a VW.

It won't fit and it will blow things up!

    IMHO!

I think you should consider getting a new system
