Latitude x300 sound quit, no audio symbol but driver there

Hi all,

The sound has disappeared from my Dell Latitude X300 laptop. The sound symbol has gone. I've reinstalled the driver and it shows on the device manager. In fact, the device manager reports the sound to be fine and working properly. What happened? Please help me get the sound back on this machine! Oh, the plug-in for headphones does not work either (a Homer point as there is no speaker symbol on the toolbar). Thanks in advance.

See if this driver site has the proper audio driver for your laptop. You might need to enter the service tag number of your laptop:
