Launching IE7 creates a shortcut

  1. I recently had to reload XP Home on an infected PC that was rendered usless by a fake Anti-Virus. After cleaning the HD of all traces of the Viruses and Malware, it was working fine until, IE7 was updated, since then whenever I click on the IE7 icon it creates a shortcut on the desktop. I tried to uninstall IE7 but it won't let me. I was about to install IE8, but I want to make sure it's OK before going to IE8.

Attached are the log files from Hi-Jack This and ComboFix.

    Thanks in advance.

I figured it out. It had IE8 installed previously. The wierd thing was IE6 worked fine, before the update to IE7. I've ran Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, then both come back clean except for the normal cookies.

So are you still running IE7 or IE8 now? Keep those cookies & temp files under control by using free CCleaner and Advanced SystemCare free
